Pastor Adam has a real passion that people would know Jesus, experience Jesus, and see His transforming work in our city!!

While Adam studied Mechanical Engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, he became involved with InterVarsity. At the Urbana Missions Conference, he heard God’s call to High School students that otherwise would not know the love of God. In response, the following summer he quit his job at San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant to help start a new youth ministry at a church plant. In his final year of college, he wrestled whether to serve in the church as lay person or to try out full-time ministry. After months of prayerful deliberation and discovering great opportunities for both, he finally “bargained” with God to give him a year of full time ministry. God has turned that year into more than 15 as he continues to grow in his love for the church, helping others wrestle with God in their life, and assist the church in engaging in God’s Kingdom work.

After graduating from Fuller Seminary, he served as Associate Pastor for Youth in a small downtown church in Jacksonville Florida. He spent 3 years working with both homeless and suburban students. He lead the congregation to further engage its neighborhood through participation in the local art walk and globally through trips to Nicaragua.

He has spent the last 5 ½ years at Glenkirk Church as an associate pastor. He has worked with families, student ministries, men’s ministries, young adults, senior adult ministries, and evangelism. One of the joys has been to lead the monthly worship services at the Glenkirk’s food pantry.

He looks forward to serving First Presbyterian Pomona. He says he admires its commitment and intentional way of living and serving the people of Pomona. The mission group teams are a real strength of the church. Strong bible studies help people grow in their faith and discipleship in Jesus Christ. He is excited to wrestle together with what it means to be a church in Pomona and to partner with you to grow and further God’s kingdom work. Pastor Adams gifts of mercy, teaching, and leadership are a good fit both now and for the years ahead.

First Presbyterian Church of Pomona is honored and excited to join with Adam Donner!

A mission group is a small group of church members and friends who gather together for a period of time both to undertake a common mission and to build a strong life together.

In building a life together of mutual support and accountability, in growing together in our Christian faith and in carrying out that ministry together to which we as individuals feel particularly called, we should grow in our commitment to Jesus Christ, in our empowerment by the Holy Spirit and in becoming stronger disciples who are carrying out God’s call to us to be his Church in the world.

Why Not Committees? The structure of mission groups is the structure the Session believes is most compatible with building and maintaining a discipling congregation in mission. The structure is one which operates both the interior life and the mission activity of the Church through the vehicle of mission groups, functioning under the authority of the Session.

We currently have the following mission groups:

Children’s Ministries

Youth Ministries

Community Garden

Worship
